WHAT'S NEW AT THE RELIC TRIANGLE INTERACTIVE
THE INNER CIRCLE MOVIE POSTER
by Michael K. Matus

It's the year 2008, and the internet is flourishing. It's Friday night and you have this invitation to an exclusive movie premiere of The Inner Circle at www.relictriangle.com. You put on your tuxedo t-shirt, turn on your laptop, and ask your computer to deliver you to the red carpet. Already, the virtual identities of Heath Ledger, Heather Graham, and Gary Oldman exit their virtual limousines and stroll up to the 3-D reception hall. Michael K. Matus, creator of this full-length motion picture, is busy answering questions and signing autographs for web-surfers via digital signature. Paparazzi snap like mad, Entertainment Tonight has logged in to get an interview or two, and you get your picture taken with director, Elijah Wood. As you swing your new VE (Virtual Eye) mouse inside, you find your online friends striking up multiple chat sessions conveying their excitement as everyone makes their way into the theater. You turn on your new rotoscope monitor and hit "Download Movie". In 3.2 seconds, the virtual terrain of Eldan appears all around you. A virtual harthuse goes through you and races off to Cragenheim Palace in the distance. Wow…what a beginning! You can only wish they had real popcorn to go with all of this!

Hey, why not! Things are moving so fast in this day and age that a goal like this isn't so far-fetched anymore. Look at the incredible job of the short film, Duality (found on theforce.net) made by a small team of determined people. My own dream of the future paints a day when I'm armed with that new Photoshop Version 15, and star, direct, and produce my entire trilogy in a couple months with an oversized box of CGI Hollywood actors, my laptop, and a digital video camera.

You might recognize some of the stars from movies that are in the theaters now! Heath Ledger, who would play Kreelos Urandees, can be seen in the current flick "A Knight's Tale", ironically enough. If you decide to see this movie, it's pretty easy to see why I chose him to be the lead character. Vin Diesel, who will be in the new speed thriller, "The Fast and The Furious", serves as the ominous drakthese, Astacracken. Finally, F. Murray Abraham, in a candid powerful performance, makes an appearance in the new "Finding Forester" DVD. This might be a pipe dream… but for now my vision comes through here in 2001 with this rendition of what The Inner Circle movie poster might look like.

GXRADEN BOLIPINE'S DESTINY CARDS

Premiering on May 24, 2001, this newest addition to the Reliquary highlights the destiny cards of Gxraden Bolipine. Not much is known about this character and his mysterious deck besides a few trace mutterings around Eldan. This character, who we'll meet in a future story of The Relic Triangle Trilogy, is rumored to be a rogue Kublata who was banished from the brotherhood of the Kublatas for corrupting the timeline and divulging futures to all those who viewed his cards. But now you have the opportunity to have your own destiny laid out right before you. Three dynamic cards slide out from the esoteric deck, each shedding light on your love, health, and success fortunes. Be mindful, he deals from the bottom of the deck! About 20 cards are in Gxraden's destiny deck right now with more cards to come in the months ahead. A message written in Kublata also graces this page that serves as wisdom during and after your visit. Good Luck!

VIRTUAL REALITY SETS IN
by Michael K. Matus

The real world seems a little bit smaller lately…

As the success of The Relic Triangle Interactive grows (as of August 1, 2001, we have eclipsed our highest monthly hit total for hits and visitors ever), more and more e-mails are coming from fantasy fans from all over the globe. I have received so many great letters from readers in England, China, Russia, India, Hong Kong, Sweden, Canada, and Mexico, just to name a few, expressing their interest and support for the RTI (…thanks!).

Every day, I look forward to peering inside my e-mailbox because each day I get to establish a new connection with visitors of my website that many authors never get an opportunity to do. Many elements of some of the best writings come from these countries' histories and cultures, each with their own distinctive countryside, rich culture, and beautiful heritages. Even with the great language barrier we live with, their enthusiasm pours out of these e-mails.

I hope some day that the RTI's hierarchy will allow visitors from all over the world to choose from a host of languages so everyone can enjoy the Relic Triangle Trilogy & Interactive. If you, or someone you know, would be interested in translating the works of The Relic Triangle Trilogy, please e-mail me at support@relictriangle.com. But I have to draw the line at making a site completely in Kublata… whew!

Who knows, people in the distant future may choose to live inside the virtual world of their choice in some altered form where language is no barrier… just common foals and interests to bring them together. "The Matrix", truly a benchmark in fiction and movies, may not be too far-fetched (the future seems to be a recurring theme in this newsletter). As the outside world seems to be shrinking, the virtual worlds and communities of the internet, like the Relic Triangle Interactive, push forward, growing, thriving, and sharing commonalties and interests.

One of the most amazing letters I got was from a young man in Sweden. As he was surfing the internet one night, he did a search for his own last name hoping to find lost relatives or families with the same namesake. But he didn't expect to find a surprising result that led him to the doors of the Relic Triangle Interactive. As he read the passage for The Bastynax Chasm on the "Overview" page, he discovered the setting for the entire for the next book takes place in the chasm port of Agstam… the same name as his own last name! I usually pick my names out of thin air. So for someone to do a search for their name and heritage and to find it on my website is truly remarkable! This really showed me that the power of a single moment we think is meaningless could mean so much to someone else entirely on the other side of the earth. Now, if someone writes me with a similar circumstance surrounding the name "Astacracken", then it's time for me to be worried.

THE KUBLATA DIRECTIVE
by Michael K. Matus

I don't know about any of you, but the best part of going to the movies for me is the previews! A lethal thirty-second dose of scene-flashing, stereo-thumping, heart-racing glitzy frenzy shoved down your throat. The only thing is, it's all by you in one mind-numbing moment, divulging every good part in the movie. What ever happened to exploring the unknown, leaving some intrigue, and finding things out on your own?

Coming soon for members of the Relic Triangle Interactive, a small preview of what's coming next month will be previewed in every newsletter with the NEW Kublata Directive…with just one hitch… the preview will be encoded in Kublata! The only way to find out what's happening next month is to go to the Kublata Alphabet Wheel and decipher it.

The link for the Kublata Directive will always be at the bottom of every newsletter. You only need to follow the link, then using your wheel, decipher the code that lies before you. You can type the letters underneath each Kublata letter to reveal the preview.

This will get your feet wet. You're going to want to know how to do this...trust me! An exciting NEW feature is coming at the beginning of next year that may greatly give you an advantage on the…competition!

WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE FANTASY AUTHOR?
by Michael K. Matus

After our nation's embarrassing election last year, I thought I'd hold off on this one for a while and give people a break from the whole "voting" thing, but it's time for the Relic Triangle Interactive's new poll. The topic this time is who the best all-time fantasy genre author is.

Is Robert Jordan the quintessential fantasy author? Does J.R.R.Tolkien still reign as king of fantasy after all these years? Or has a newcomer like R.K. Rowling stolen the crown as best all-time fantasy author? Others in the poll include Marion Zimmer Bradley, Terry Brooks, David Eddings, Terry Goodkind, Tracy Hickman, and Margaret Weis. They all need your vote, so make sure you head to the voting booth on the RTI's home page to show support for your favorite fantasy author.

THE DRAGONROOT CANTINA IS LOOKING FOR HOSTS!
by Michael K. Matus

Every party has a host. Would you like to promote your own fantasy website, fantasy art, or work of fiction or poetry?
All you have to do is contact me at the e-mail address below, show up to the Dragonroot Cantina on the date you are assigned, and get as many of your friends to come along to the party as you can! It's easy and it's all free! You'll get virtual drinks, the minstrel music, and the chat room. We'll all be sharing our interests in the fantasy genre and hopefully exposing fans to new thoughts and ideas.

And so it's worth people checking out your event, I would suggest offering a prize, like free artwork, or a coupon, or anything of interest to fans of the fantasy genre. Give me enough time to include it in an upcoming newsletter so I can get the word out as much as possible. What good is a party if no one shows!

The next scheduled arrival is on June 18th, so contact me as soon as possible to arrange a date for you to host a Dragonroot Cantina at support@relictriangle.com.

RTI QUESTION
WHAT HAPPENED TO KREELOS IN BRONTONOVERE'S TUNNEL?
by Michael K. Matus

Everyone remember the scene where Kreelos is in the tunnel that leads to Brontonovere? Packs of drakthese looming in the darkness all around him, a hostile mob of townspeople from Ramhi rushing at his back, and the vicious water surge barrels up to engulf him?

\And later, he mysteriously appears in the belly of Brontonovere Castle to face the evil Anadecia? How did he escape all of that?
I created quite a stir with this… and I love it. This pivotal scene in the book was always planned to be left out. Why? The whole concept behind the Relic Triangle Interactive is to be just that… interactive.

What fun would it be if I put the main character in every situation only to rescue him every time. This way, I challenge you and your imagination to rescue Kreelos from this seemingly impossible situation. Sure, it may seem like something was left out. Some may even say I copped out for putting him in such a grave situation and, instead of writing a logical solution for escape, I simply couldn't do it and pleaded "it was always meant to be". I guarantee that every one of you scanned the last couple of pages before this scene appeared and you wondered if you missed something. It's a little objectionable, but it made you think and react… it intrigues me that I could cause such reader emotion.

I felt that, up to this point in the book, every reader should know all of the people, places, and things inside the world of Eldan enough to come up with their own resolution. This could be a future contest, so begin sharpening your wits and your pencil points…there are a lot of possibilities!

Somewhere in time, maybe The Inner Circle Special Edition will be released with deleted scene(s). Kind of like a Special Edition DVD that has all the goodies on it… maybe!

RTI REVIEW (WEBSITE)
DRAGONSWORN
by Michael K. Matus

I love going to websites where the splash page gets you hyped to click that "Enter" button and see what's inside. The fantasy website called Dragonsworn does this really well. Adorned on the structured cornucopia is this sultry woman icon that hangs herself inside. On closer inspection, you can even see a skull draped in front of her. I don't understand the icons, but am I supposed to?

The inside style careens between snowboard and vampire worship…real nice! And everything is extremely organized. You gotta like when you can find the stuff you want and you can get out of there without windows flying up at you (I know… I'm guilty of that), lots of banner ads, and waiting a day for things to load even with DSL pumping pages into your browser.
This site strong in it's fantasy fiction material is still in its infancy, but looks like it's been left for dead. Why is it when I find websites I like, the creators don't tend to them. I realize people get distracted and dejected when things don't go well, but stick with them.

My favorite part is the bottom navigation bar. Just when you think you've gone through everything, you scroll down a little further and you see this other navigation panel with more buttons. It's like finding a prize at the bottom of the cereal box – you eat all the cereal and now you have this toy! When you start following the links, more of the same cool stuff we all love (although outdated) flows onto the discussion boards where most of the action is, and these are just as well organized as everything else. It's not overly flashy, but very well laid-out and NEAT! One small plea… get rid of that awful mailbox graphic on the webmail log-in page… PLEASE! Every other piece of the website looks so professional; I bet that graphic was the absolute last piece. I know because I've done it! I say in my head, "It's the last thing and I'm tired of this website. Just stick some clip art in there and I'm done."
.
This site has great potential, but the wings of the dragon need to start flapping and get off that virtual ground it's stuck on!
